Default Problem-removed alternator and forgot about exciter wire

So the wire pulled out of what ever it was attached to. The part that attaches to the alternator is still intact but I don't know where the other end attaches to. I just realized what must have happened so I haven't had a chance to look closely but I didn't see any wires hanging down. I will try to fix it tonight. Thanks

If the wire pulled out of the clip in the alternator, you are toast,,its almost impossible to try and put that wire in the pigtail, You will need to go to the salvage yard or dealer and get a new pigtail. If it broke in the harness just find the other half of wire and solder and insulate it and your done.

Not true! I got lucky and was able to reuse the clip. I jammed the wire back into place and placed some poxy to keep in place. worked for 2 years so far.

Better hope it didn't pull out and break from way up in the wiring harness......thats gonna be a pain in the nuts to fix. Mine broke about 6 inches from the plug and splicing in a new piece of wire was extremely easy and fast to do.

I ran into the same issue a few months back and was able to place a new wire back into the clip in the harness. I then crimped the new wire to the old wire with a butt connector.
