Default Fuel Sender Problem

Hi folks,

My fuel pump recently went out so I replaced it with a new pump assembly including a new sender (via the trap door method). The issue that just popped up is that it shows Full when I fill up, then drops as I drive, like it should. But when it gets to about 3/4F, when I start up the gauge goes all the way back to F and stays there so I can no longer tell how much fuel I have left. When I fill up, it resets and works like normal then fails again at about the same place.

I've pulled the assembly a couple times and can't see anywhere the sender could be snagging, but I could be wrong. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks.

Most likely the sender unit is bad...
