Default Rear Main Seal Change Question

I do not have the time or the experience to replace the rear main seal myself. With that being said I called a shop who will do it for about 600 bucks. So i have the following questions.

1. Is that a decent price to change the rear main?

2. Being that I have an m6 5.7 is there anything else i should get them to look at while it is apart? (The car has 126000 miles on it. 2000 model)

Thanks in advance.

Make sure they replace the rear cover gasket also. I have replaced a rear main seal before thinking that was the only leak and after I got the car back together I figured out the rear cover gasket was leaking too. The price sounds about right to me. Good Luck!

i just had mine replaced and they did rear main, valve covers (just in case), pinion seal and power steering pump for 600. thats not bad if ur paying full shop time.

also have them check the pinion seal, rear end fluid, tranny fluid, power steering pump (they go out on these cars) and air/egr.

Thanks guys. I will get them to check the rear cover gasket, pinion seal, and power steering pump. When at 121000 I replaced tranny fluid, rear end fluid and cover gasket along with a bunch of other stuff so those will be fine. The guy i bought the car from had the slave changed at 85k. I am not sure how long they usually last but i havent had any problems from it yet.

I am glad to hear the price is reasonable and thanks again for all the replies.
