Default trans cross member bolt stripped!

One of the cage nuts on the body of my car is stripped our where the tranny cross member bolts up to. I am thinking about drilling and tapping it to the next size bolt but am afraid that I will break the cage nut loose. Any other ideas? I guess if tapping it doesn't work I will have to drill a hole in the floor board of my car to get to the nut. Any help or idea would be great thanks guys.

Same thing happened to me. I was actually able to install a helicoil in mine. I just had to buy the kit and it came with the correct size drill bit, coils, and install tool. This way I can still use the stock bolts (or stock size bolts). Had to jack the car up pretty high to get the drill under there. It took me about 10 minutes from start to finish. Good luck

yeah i was gonna say a helicoil would probably work, or you can try running a chaser the same size as the bolt back thru it, sometimes that works
