new socket for front turn signal?
new socket for front turn signal? Do any of you know where I can get a new 3 way socket for the front turn signal on my car? Rock auto has them for $45 but I wanted to see if I could get it any cheaper somewhere else.
It'll take a while before that happens, most of these socket failures happen from getting corroded. Easy way to ake them last longer is to drill a couple very small holes in the bottom of the housing for any moisture to drain out of so it wont pool in the socket.
what bulb are you running? My stock pieces lasted until this past winter before corrosion took one out. And I do alot of early morning & night time driving so my lights get used alot. Havent had a melting issue ever though.

Delphi makes a special high temperature socket for these bulbs, but... they weren't used in our cars and I can't find a single place that has them in stock. Honestly, its far less expensive to replace the bad parts over and over again rather than getting the heavy duty housing as a special order. (The replacement sockets at the auto parts stores are the regular duty.)
The DRL bulbs are hot and they are going to char the sockets right away. No big deal. If things get bad, you can replace the insert and/or socket housing for pennies. AND - you don't need to splice anything in, keeping the whole setup good as new.
