Timing Chain Replacement
Timing Chain Replacement After how many miles are you supposed to change the timing chain on an LS1? my car has 105,000 miles on it now and I don't know if the timing chain has ever been replaced. Thanks for the help.
Thank god we have actual chains, and not some stupid PITA belt we have to change every 80k miles.
Well I don't have the time to actually change it out myself... If a shop is replacing the chain do they charge alot more to install a different cam? If I had a different cam installed would I necessarily need new heads? This is a pretty stock car, doesn't even have headers... so I don't even know if a new cam would be worth it. Advice?

If you decide to cam, no you don't necessarily need new heads. A ton of cars on here are "cam only" cars with of course bolt ons too.

id go to summit racing they have the slp dbl roller setup in stock. i changed my with 140000. needed it bad. the dbl roller different sound, very nice. i also did the slp oil pump high flow since i was that far in.
Im a little over 100k, I have no worries. But I will be doing a cam, oil pump (LS6), and timing chain (LS2) this winter.
My oil pump is the one that concerns me. I had to switch from 5-30 to 10-30 to help keep the pressure up until the new pump goes in.
