Default engine temp question

my gauge cluster reads the cars running about 240, in autotap it shows the engine coolant temp sensor is reading 146. its got a 160 thermostat in it and i wired the fans manually. i replaced the temp sensor in the head, thermostat, water pump and flushed the radiator. could i just have a shitty gauge?

These guages are terrible, that one is way far off though. OR.......Failing coolant temp sensor...change it.

99 & up the PCM tells the cluster the temp to display.
I'm Betting your cluster/gauge is to blame.

Something else isn't right!

If you have a 160 thermostat, the true engine temp should be AT LEAST that temperature.
