Default Fixed My Loose Door Handle

This is for those that have a loose door handle that moves around too much without needing to be, or if their handle does not open the door at all!

A few days ago, my door handle decided to stop working, lifting and pulling on it did not open my driver side door, I had to open it from the inside to get in. I managed to take the door panel off today and peaked inside:

This is how the back of the door handle looks on the inside of the door. That hook with the hole in it is what were worried about.

This is the line that opens your door when the door handle is pulled. The top hook is what goes into the hole in the back of your door handle.
***NOTE*** I believe you might be able to purchase the orange/red plastic retaining clip as this is what holds this line to the door handle and keeps it there. In my case, this plastic clip is broken, and lets the line fall out of place.

This is how it should look; the line should be hooked into the door handle.

This is my cheap, temporary fix that has held up for two days so far. If you zip tie it like I did, make sure you leave enough slack so that the hook of the handle can rotate up and down, opening your door. Zip it too tightly together and it will bind the entire mechanism and be harder for you to open the door or not at all.

I can see other methods such as getting a small washer/lock for the back of the line hook or like I mentioned, buying that plastic retainer clip.

This fix took about 5-10 mins. Thanks for reading.

Wow...I don't have any problem with that hook arm coming out of the hole on the door handle lever.......but since you posted some pictures I see why my door handle itself that you lift up with your fingers is getting loose.

I need to tighten that nut...and I assume there's another one at the other end......

I'll have to do this tomorrow, one handle is getting a small rubb mark in my brand new paint.

Thanks

Those clips are available in variety packs at the auto parts stores.

You dont need one. Go to the HELP section at your auto parts store and find the assorted pack and grab them.
