I would say it has crapped out at this point. maybe marginal at best. Truck alternators (tahoe/escalade/silverado/etc) fit our cars (with 2 bolts instead of 3) if you want to go stock. I think alot of the aftermarket hi amp alternators use the truck housing as well. its just a little bit bigger but not much. You probably need a good 200+ amp alternator especially since stock ones dont put out much at idle when underdriven.

Wow - that's a lot of miles on the alt. I'd suggest getting it tested regardless of how the car is running. If the voltage regulator is going out, you may be able to catch that before you get stranded somewhere.

I'd reccomend calling these folks: http://www.alternatorparts.com/cs130...lternators.htm They have high amp models in the same case and can help you pick out the right one for your pulley and extra stereo needs.

Our alternators are the 102 Amp CS130D model: (Their offerings go up to 170 amps all in the same case. No need to adapt a truck or other alternator.) http://store.alternatorparts.com/par...ester8242.aspx
