Lost keys Vatts disabled 95Z How to get a new key
How do I get a new key for my 95 Lt1 camaro. I lost both keys and my fob.
I think my Vatts was disabled when my computer was tuned. Will that make it easier to get a new key.
I read something about a resistor in the key. They had to try one every fifteen minutes until they found the right key.
Will my VIN tell the dealer what resistor is in the key.

Just go to the dealer and prepare to shell out a ton of $$$. They can look up the codes for you and punch a new key. The resistor key is part of VATS, so if VATS is disabled, you can use a regular key.
The FOBs can be had anywhere. (I'm sure the dealer would sell you one and charge you 3X what it should.)

I went to the Dealer to get keys made, but i had my key to make a copy. They had a sign saying if you didnt have your key you need proof of insurance and all this other **** just to make a key.

Now that you have a key go to ebay and buy one for 10 bucks with the correct resistor. They have a chart listed on there. In my case the key resistor read 885 ohms.
When I got the blank key with the correct resistor I went to Ace hardware to have it cut like my original. They didn't even charge me for that. You can not tell my spare key from the original one. Same black coating on the head and GM markings
10 bucks is a little bit of insurance so you never get bent over at the dealership on this again.
