Default Barely Moving in Automatic:

Hi all,

Issue at hand:

Just recently took the my car out for a spin, then noticed that my drive stopped going into drive and the needle barely gets to the 10mph mark even with attempts to give it gas.....

Tried so far:

Took it to a transmission specialist, they said car is "very clean" and there is no issues with the transmission.

No engine light

Any ideas of causes and/or possible fix(s).

Thanks for the feedback.

I don't understand. Did the transmission specialist drive the car? How would he say it is fine if you can't get to 10mph?

Could you go into a little more detail about what is happening?

its weird, when I took it to the specialist, the car was fine.

The next following day.. (today), the car acted up again.

I have no DTC codes, CEL codes......

I'm wandering... can a bad fuel filter have a role in this?

So the engine runs fine, but the car won't move? Or does the motor stumble and not make power?

Engine runs fine

I give it gas .. needle barely makes it to 10 mph... more gas I give.. the rpm gets higher.

reverse works fine.

If the engine runs fine it sounds like there is slippage in the transmission somewhere. What year is your car?

Try starting the car off with the gear selector in 1 and then try 2. If you put it in 2 then it starts in second.

** Follow up

Jam01 .... I was thinking the same thing..... but...

Finally found what was wrong with it..

The VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) needed to be replaced.

The original technician could'nt find anything wrong with the vehicle....

The vehicle was running fine.. then it acted up again..... needle dropping.. going into limp mode......

I took it back to the tech and they troubleshooted it again, this time did a thorough check on it.... long behold....... it was the VSS.

I wanted to share this in case others may experience this in the future

Thanks again for your replies, its truly appreciated.
