Default Smell from Engine Bay

Hi all,

I have an odd smell coming from my engine bay.
Its a 99 WS6 w/111k miles.

I picked up the car a few months ago and the smell was pretty strong, now that i've been driving it, the smell isn't too strong anymore but still lingers.

Its a really rich smell.

Any ideas?
*ALSO I cannot smell this from anywhere else, only way is to pop the hood.

Well, can you describe the smell? Is it sweet? Does it smell like there's something dead in there?

Its a very rich smell, gotta say fuel or something similar to fuel.

Which concerns me 0_0 (my 84 blew up on me so i'm paranoid) haha.

Oh how I wish it was just some road kill hiding somewhere, that'd be easier...

I'm going to go with either an exhaust leak, burning coolant, or burning oil. Those are things that have distinct odors lol.

I do remember reading somewhere that the 99s had a flaw and burnt oil... know of any ways to check for that?

I just recently did an oil change to full synthetic and that's when the smell did get "lighter", now that I think about it

I would say just monitor your level on the dipstick. If your oil slowly vanishes then it is either leaking out or burning.
