Default engine temp... do I trust this value?

Whats the highest a LS1 should get for water temp?

I am trying to figure out if the gauge is right, LM2 or what is going on.

I have a 01' LS1 in a 80 vette. Gauge says 240ish... LM2 is 112ish. I am thinking the LM2 is somehow in Celsius but I am not sure.

How can I tell if it is really getting that hot?

240 is kinda high, but not necessarily something to worry about as most engines are made to run that warm from the factory for emission purposes.

What you should be more worried with are oil temps, that's more of a tell tale sign of engine temperature.

do I have to install something to get the oil temp or does it go to the ECU and I read it off from there?

What are you using for a cooling system? These motors normally run about 210ish stock, but 240 is too high IMHO.

Yea, I think that is way to high and that is in 30-40 weather. Can't imagine what it would do when its 100 plus during the summer in traffic

The cooling system is new stock radiator for 80' vette (triple core), new dual fans

If the gauge is correct, 240 is extremely high. On a stock car a gauge might show 210 but it's normally actuallt around 170-190. I use a scangauge II
