Default problems with 2000 z28 camaro

a friend has recently been driving his 200o z28 camaro and the serpertine belt has got thrown off, it was put on about a year ago. does anyone know what may have caused it to come off.
Also we have a 99 firehawk making a chirping noise everything else about it is fine do you think it is the belt tensioner pulley or the bearings in the alternator.
Thanks

a weak/bad tensioner will throw a belt, also if something is locked up ex- ac compressor, it will throw the belt. Usually if something locked up, you will have had noise and heard its demise. Also a wobbly pulley(water pump, power steering) will throw a belt. I suggest putting it back on, running it and watch it from in front of the car, NOT THE SIDES(FENDERS)!! if the belt throws, you have a chance of getting hit with it. I would put money on 1. bad tensioner 2. wobbly water pump

Sometimes badly worn pulleys will tend to toss belts. If all is well and you still have chirping, some spray belt dressing should help. Or just hold a bar of soap on the belt.

LS1 cars have a separate belt just for the A/C.
