usually when you install a colder thermostat, you should get a tune also, to lower your fan turn on points..this wil help better control coolant temps as your trying to do.

You need to remove that t-stat and toss it in a pot of water and turn on the heat, stand there with thermometer in it, see if it starts opening just before 160 and opens FULLY.

Lots of NEW t-stat don't work. If its not opening all the way, your flow is cut way down and you'll run hot.

Just changing to a new t-stat can't change anything with the fans, they're not related in any way.

Check it out....

so why did you put in a 160? It won't make the car run cooler, it just opens all the way sooner. Now you have cooling troubles and need to spend money on a Tune!

well i need to a tune anyways after full exhaust, headers, boltons, etc...i dont see how a 160 tstat is going to screw up my car...and it was running cooler sittin around 180-190 but fans wont come on to keep it there..the biggest issue is my fans only coming on when i turn my AC on...i changed the engine coolant sensor...no dice still...though i hear the temp gauges for these cars is off alot

The fans are set to come on when you turn on the A/C. When I'm sitting in traffic and my car starts to run a little hot because of lack of air forced thru the radiator, I turn on my a/c to cool the car down. It turns Both fans on.

and besides that if you have a car that is not a "Race Car" you don't need a 160 therm. No matter what the people that are selling them tell you.

The fans are set to come on at a set temp. I'm not real sure exactly what that temp is so i won't guess because the Temp Police will come after me. But they should work and what I am saying is that whenever I turn on my A/C they both will come on and bring my temp down when I am sitting in Traffic. Maybe you have a blown fuse or relay. Check your owners manual to see where the fuse and/or relay is and check it out.
