Here is something for all of you with these gas mileage issues. If you are getting black smoke out of your exhaust when you stomp the gas on the street, check your fuses. I had an issue like that. I had put on my ORY that had no rear o2's. I didnt cap off the old rear o2 connectors. Some water got in there and blew the fuse. The problem is that this particular fuse supplies power to not only the o2's, but the tps, iac, map, maf, iat, and a few more sensors. When I would hit the throttle, it would blow smoke from rich AFR. Once I replaced that fuse and let it idle for about 15 minutes and let the computer relearn its fuel mapping, it ran great. Then I got some rear o2 deletes and havent had issues since. Just something to look at.

I would check for a broken spring before pulling the whole head (unless you want to check the piston tops/gasket anyway).
