1998 z28 squeek in sterring wheel when turning

Default 1998 z28 squeek in sterring wheel when turning

i noticed when I turn left, the steering wheel emits a light squeek, any ideas?

The horn contact needs to be greased.The factory greases them and it drys out after a few years.

I don't know if Fbodys would exhibit the same condition, but on newer cars (Equinox w/hydraulic p/s, and Traverse) the rubbing/squeaking noise while turning heard only IN the car is actually a defect in the steering rack and transmits the noise to the passenger compartment.

Mark and disconnect the steering shaft to see if the noise goes away. If not, its probably a rack or p/s line issue. If it goes away disconnected, grease the horn contacts.
