Starter Knock
I've got a 2000 Ls1 engine with a t56 trans and theres a clunking noise that you can feel through the floor when just turning the motor over without starting it. Probably about 1 every second, its consistent. Is that normal? I dont know what it could be. The flywheel bolts are torqued to spec and the starter bolts are tight. I haven't actually started this engine yet. It'll be open header when it starts so its unlikely i'll hear anything when I do fire it up. Also, the engine has about 100k on it but should be good.

True. It might just be that. I bumped the starter several times and it would engage smoothly, then I bumped it again and it would make a somewhat loud clunk before spinning smoothly again...although theres 2 clunks now. This is actually in a wrx and i've hit several bumps along the way...the newest one is that the fuel pump wasn't priming, and I found out it doesn't even have a pump! The guy that sold the car to me took it out and didn't say anything, along with unpluging the ignition switch.
