Default Power Steering fading

The last few times I drove the trans am when the RPM's are low or at idle it seems like the power steering kind of fades in and out. If I'm turning into a parking spot the wheel gets hard to turn for a second then easier again and does that continuously unless I rev it up some. PS fluid is full (probably needs to be changed) and the pump makes no noises. Stock pullies. Idles at 800 rpm. Thanks for any help.

The pump is probably going bad and is probably a good candidate for a rebuild. (Have someone rebuild it for you vs. get someone else's rebuilt unit from the store.)

The pump has a pressure bleed off valve in it to make sure the lines don't get over pressured. If its wearing out or leaking, it could be bleeding off pressure when you don't want that to happen.
