Default Camaro getting hot only while driving not idleing

I bought a 01 Camaro ss and I am having trouble with it overheating. It will set and idle all day long but when you drive it down the road it gets hot. The harder you drive it the faster it gets hot. I don't know if the water pump is weak or if a head gasket may be seeping? I am open to suggestions from someone who has had similar problems or has more mechanical background than me. By the way the car doesnt leak any fluid and the fans are working great. Thanks for any input.

****Water pumps never stop working...and they work just as hard on year 10 as they do on day 1. If the water pump was not spinning then you would overheat just sitting and idling in about 15-18 minutes.

What they do is LEAK..........from the seal when it blows/wears out.

Make sure you don't have a bag or something stuck up in front of the condensor/radiator.
Make sure your front lower air dam is in perfect condition.

Blown head gasket, if it was causing the leak, would also blow coolant into your overflow tank. If you are way low on coolant after you ran hot.....that could be a blown head gasket.

You could also have a t-stat that is sticking PARTIALLY open.....and the coolant flow cannot keep up when you start driving it and increasing rpm's.

maybe replace the cap on the coolant tank, lack of pressure will cause over heating..you mite have some air in the system ,and need to bleed the air out.

If this just started after you serviced the coolant, then you probably still have some air in the system.

It very well could be air in the system......but usually when there is an air pocket on the engine side of the t-stat.....the t-stat will never open...at all. The engine would overheat even idling and just sitting after 15-18 minutes.

stuck thermostat maybe, I had a BMW did the same thing and that's what it ended up being. We installed a new Tstat and it was good to go.
