Default I need colder a/c!

Hey guys. I replaced everything in my a/c system earlier this year except for the condenser (evap, lines, compressor, drier, expansion valve), vacuumed it down, and charged it to where it was supposed to be. It never really seemed to be that cold so I finally checked it (on recirculate and max) and I'm only getting about an 18-20* temperature drop (it's 90* and a/c is about 72*). I blew out the condenser with air and the a/c system cleaner and tried to clean it externally. I checked the pressures today and they are still right where they are supposed to be. I tried adding a little more r134a and it didn't change the temp at the vents. Both fans are working properly. Should I go ahead and replace the condenser? Thanks!

Sometimes you have to let it vacuum down for an hour or more depending on how much moisture has entered the system. How much vacuum were you getting out of it when you vacuumed it down? Also you can get moisture that gets trapped in the system and "pops" for lack of better terms after vacuuming for a while and you have to keep sucking. Eric L

I was using a friend of mine's Harbor Freight vacuum pump- 1.5 cfm I think. It would pull it right down to -30" right after I turned it on. Pulled vacuum on both sides. I left it on there at least an hour, if not 1 1/2 hrs then let it sit a few hours to make sure it hadn't lost any vacuum.

Have you checked the air mixer under the passenger side dash? I wonder if some air is making past the heating coils and mixing in with your cold air?

If you take the lower IP cover off, you should be able to hear a distinct "thunk" when the flapper in the mixer goes all the way over to cold. If not, you'll need to adjust it.

I have never had the need for a Vac pump, just always added Freon to fill. Without getting into detail have done it may times. Oh yes I found my Leak, it was the Schrader Valve on the Low side. I replaced it and now everything is "cool".

Yes the flapper is closing completely. Checked that after I put in the evap/heater core.

Is this while driving or sitting still? R134a cooling temp unfortunely depends on ambient temp

It's the same whether driving or sitting still.

How do you get to this? I suspect that mine may have the problem you are describing, as the vent air is a bit warm. I looked under the dash at the blower motor area, but I'm not sure where to start digging to get at the flap.

You said the pressures are where they should be? What are the pressures?
