^ Right, but that is exactly the opposite of what its supposed to do.
When your gauges are all OK, your gauges light is on.
When your alternator is unplugged and your voltage is low, your gauges light is off. (This condition should trigger it on!)
Its almost like something is backward.
I wonder what would happen if you unplugged your coolant temp sensor? Would that command the light off, also?

Well it turns out that since I was using a truck alternator, I needed to run two wires into the plug, not just one like the Camaro uses. I ran a 12v switched source to another pin and it charges fine and the light went out.
