Default gauges don't work after swap

So I swaped the drivetrain and pcm from my wrecked 2000 formula into a 1998 formula body. Everything went well but my gauges will light up but not read anything. Some of the needles peg out in one direction or another and the odometer area lights up but doesn't show any numbers. Is there something else I need to swap? Things I haven't seen a problem with but expect there might be some is the cruise control and traction control. I ran the brake lines for my 4 channel rear end and changed the abs module. Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

It's my understanding that us '98 F-Bodies are the red-headed step children as far as our computers are concerned. That's why the programmers, etc., are made specifically for '98's and then '99-'02's. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't have to swap the guage cluster over as well in order to get it to work, or go back and swap all the sensors and harness back over to the '98 version. I put an '04 LS6 longblock in my '98 Z28, but had to swap all the sensors, etc. over from my '98 longblock to get everything to work correctly. I even ordered a new oil pressure senor that turned out to be from a '99 and it did what you're talking about and just pegged my oil guage out and I had to swap it back over to my used '98 sensor to get it working correctly again.

Bottom line, I wouldn't go swapping '98 sensors, etc. with anything from a '99-'02. Pick either one or the other, but don't try to mix...

I just did this and you are going to have to repin some of the wires on the three plugs on the passenger side shock tower and the plugs behind the passenger side kick panel.

you should have noticed on the wires that run into the firewall, that the 2000 had only two plugs and the 98 had three.

you will either need to add a third on or condense down to two.

essentially all the wires are there to get full guage functionality except for gas which I am still working on and I think that will involves a tuner.

Also, you will need to purchase a 98 three prong temperature sensor and pig tail and run the C pinned wire to the dash harness to get temperature guage working.

you will also have to splice a wire for the tachometer.

send me a message if you want more detail or some additional help, my notes are in the car at the moment. If I get some time I can try to draft up a more complete how to.

Did you make any progress on your repinning?
