Do they break it down by VIN for the updated bracket??

Yeah I have the new bracket. I went to NAPA and looked at both versions. The older version has a different offset where the pulley actually sits on the bracket about 8mm deep. The new bracket requires about 4mm offset. Doesn't sound like much, but the pulley will bind and not spin on the new bracket.

I haven't done anything with lately. It doesn't squeak when cold. It has a constant whine once it warms up. But it's at least tolerable. I have no idea what it is.

I've run the car without the belts and that solves it. I've free spun all the pulleys. I've listened to the bearings while the car is working with a long metal pole and all sound pretty good. I've cleaned the belt and the pulleys. It's annoying as **** that it still does it.

VIN Breakpoint is Y2107225. VINs newer/later than that should already have the new bracket/pulley.

TSB is #00-06-01-008 (Mar 22, 2000)

THANKS RPM WS6!!

I have a front serpentine belt drive whine which goes up and down with engine speed, and for the life of me I CANNOT get rid of it!!

The; alternator, water pump, p.s. pump, damper/balancer, and ALL pullies/belts have been replaced, and it STILL makes this 'blower sound'.

It cannot be the AC compressor/bearings, nor those pullies, since it makes this noise when that belt is totally off the car.

Could it be misalignment from the old style bracket, or does worn out/stretched timing chains/sprokets/oil pump make this sound as well???

Thread back from the dead

I'm having the same annoying chirping sound as some of you guys described. It's chirps a very little bit at idle, but is crazy loud when RPM's go up.

I've replaced the tensioner pulley thinking that was it but didn't work. How do I know if tensioner itself is weak? What's the best way to see if it's the pulleys or belt making the noise?

OH AND...it actually started making the chirping noise right after I replaced my p/s pump (misaligned pulley?) but I tightened it down all the way.

This noise is annoying!!!!!!
