Default Rod knock?? vid inside

I know in some of my recent posts of racing and burnouts im hitting limiter. and this is what i get for doing it.

i noticed a loud tick kind of noise that started happening 3000rpms and up. started doing it 2500rpms and up. now does it at idle.

noise sounds like driver side. i ran the engine with the driver side valvetrain not there and i didnt hear it. put the pushrods in and rockers on and this is how it sounds-

im thinking of swapping the driver side rockers to the passenger side to see if it follows. the lifters are Brian tooley lifters with about 3000 miles on them. Rotella T6 oil used. changed 2000 miles after the new engine went in. 1000 miles on current oil. Comp pushrods checked and ARENT bent. none of my valve springs are broken. Rockers are stock.

im gonna go put the valve cover on and the coil packs so the both sides of the engine is firing and ill get another video.

i am lead to believe its a rod bearing. although there is no glitter in my oil and when i unplug a coil at a time the noise doesnt get softer. Shitty i just put this motor in and it has 3000 miles on it since been in. 18k total on the motor. maybe this winter it will get fixed, i have a lot going on right now to where i cant fix the racecar

i've been told its too fast to be a rod knock. i can get another video of it running with the driver side valvetrain not there. i did it once but didnt get it on footage. pretty sure the noise isnt there.

a couple more tests to perform:
compression check (looking for a bent valve)
switch the rockers from driver side to passenger side (see if the noise follows)

an older tech who used to be a drag racer thinks it doesnt sound like a rod knock. too fast and without those cylinders firing its too loud.

still not sure what exactly the noise is. havent done much more investigating.

That is definently not lifters, as they tick when they fail. That is either rod bearings or could be a exhaust leak at the collector. The low oil pressure has me wondering.

The low oil pressure is the big question. The only way to loose oil pressure is to make a large outlet for oil (spun bearing, lifter out of place ect.) I would go ahead and tear down the top end. If there is no smoking gun look to the bottom end. If you need any help with the process feel free to give us a call.

thats a rod knock to me. theres no such thing as really too fast for a rod knock. the rod will knock when the crank turns which is the engine rpm the cam lifters and valves spin at half engine speed. so the rod knock would be the fastest tick you would hear. that also sounds more bottom end than something on top

Check your rockers first, we were wrapping up a buddy of mines car and the last pull on The dyno the motor started ticking really bad, sounded like that. Well he forgot to torq and lock tight the rockers. 20 min later the car was a ok.

Is it possible to have a severe rod knock, and still have very good hot idle-WOT oil pressure??

well my rockers are all torqued. i was thinking maybe swap them from the driver side to passenger side.

also would it be dangerous to run the engine with the driver side rocker arms off and pusrods out? of course unplug the driver side injectors. this to see if the noise is still there

could it blow the headgasket?

im gonna go lay under the car with a screw driver and put it from my ear to the block (with it running or course)

why not change the oil and examine the plug? An oil filter cutting tool it available cheap and by doing that you will be able to see any bearing material

i checked oil on the dip stick. didnt see any. i had a rod knock last year and i could see the glitter on the dip stick. i could change the oil and filter and look through that.

i just listened to it more, also noticed the ses light is on now. maybe its the knock sensors setting codes. it kinda stumbled to idle after a lite rev. 2 1/2 min vid

in the vid it shows my car warms up halway. my gauge is off so when its halfway its actaully warmed up
