Default steering rack & pinion seal kit ???

looks like my rack is leaking slightly out the driver's side.
i know there is a good write up here about steering rack replacement, but has anybody rebuilt their oem rack?
looking at seal kits on rockauto and they are $20. if all it takes is a pair of snap ring pliers and a seal driver i'd wanna try that before replacing the rack at $300.
also not sure if it matters but rock shows seal kits for std suspension or for performance suspension. I was not aware the steering rack changed between a base z28 or an ss, or if you got the slp bilstein suspension package which i have.

up until like 2000 or something like that there where 2 different steering racks, one in the lt1 and v6 models and then the LS1 rack, so the 2 kits may refer to those 2 different racks.

This.... Go look at your door code and you'll see either fe2 or fe4 when you look at the steerin racks in rock auto match those up with that rack then base your seal kit off that.

This is what I will do, I just wish someone made one with a quicker steering ratio/better 'feel' than the OEM/Delco stuff, since there is no way/room for using one of those circle track add on steering quickeners on these cars.
