Default Po342 code

P0342 code Camshaft position sensor Circuit A - Bank 1 Circuit Low Input

This was just pulled up today, and I have had starting issues for a week or so, car sometimes start sometimes it wont. It may even take a few tries. Could this sensor be the problem? I have a buddy who has a spare one laying around he thinks, I'm assuming it needs to be for the exact year of the car, I could be wrong, if anyone has any input, greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Pretty sure they are identical for those years......but....go to rockauto.com and check all 4 years to see if the part numbers are the same.

Also, they usually have the best prices on parts for our cars.

,,,,,,,,just checked....1998 and 2002 show different part numbers. So get the right year part. They have them for about $48.00

Maybe I checked it wrong, but I'm seeing identical part numbers, lol. AC delco is the one I was looking at.

Rockauto.com shows:

AC Delco
213355 for a 1998
213363 for a 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002

Or just call any dealership and they will give you the part numbers to make sure. But rockauto is always right on.

ok cool, so this is a simple plug and replace installation? Does the computer need to relearn anything or is this done automatically, I want to make sure it'd done right.

You just pop it in and your done. PCM will never know what happened.

You have to remove the intake to replace it. But be careful not to snap the Oil Pressure Sender off.....it breaks if you blow on it......lol

You need to lift the intake up and as you do you need to reach back and lift the brake booster hose up and over that OPS......or it will break.

Forgot to task you, this thing only obviously plugs in one way, the connectors itself, where does the other end hang/go? I've never worked around that area of the motor.
