I have had this problem that comes and goes when I hit a bump my rear end makes a loud grinding noise. I have to speed up or slow down to make it stop. this didn't happen until I put new axles and bearings in the rear end.. didn't start right away it started a few weeks later. any ideas? 
You could jack the rear end up and spin the back tires and see if you can see anything binding or rubbing anywhere. Other than that, your description is pointing toward something that went wrong after you installed your axles and bearings. I'm guessing your gonna have to pull the rear apart and find out what is going on.

I did check my backing plate tighten up all the bolts( they backed themselves out) and it stopped for a little bit but now the sound is back.. but bolts are tight. im out of ideas I may just replace the bearings I got dorman axles and read up on them.. the axles are good but bearings are not. any recommendations on bearings?
