Motor noise and Pcv setup:video: i got a 99 Z28 with 119k on it, six speed, idles really well..however..in this video you can sorta hear my valvetrain noise, which is waaay louder than it sounds. hear for yourself and let me know what u think. the noise is only between 1300 and 1800 or so rpm..wtf??.
At the end of the video theres a section that you can view my modified PCV setup with a catch can..yet i dunno if thats how its supposed to be routed..help?
at 1:08 or so into the video you can REALLY hear the tapping..i have no clue what it is. motor is being held at 1800 rpm give or take.
can you guys let me know if the motor sounds ok and what you think of the PCV setup i have?
what you see is a 3/8" hose from from the intake into the pcv valve, then the pcv valve sits in a sparkplug boot which has a 90* elbow in it, then 3/8" hose to the catch can. the other hose of the can goes to the factory PCV hose
I use the newer orifice style pcv valve and i was told to mount the pcv valve vertical, hence the sparkplug boot which i can turn upright. and yea the catch can is a $20 ebay job but does catch some stuff. I was told to stuff the can with some very very thick brillo pad type material to give the oil something to grab onto. but i dont think i want the idea of that stuff maybe getting sucked into the motor..
