Battery harness?

Battery harness? So, I believe that I have discovered why my car hard starts/doesn't start/runs with low volts.
The red wire that runs to the back of the alt is all corroded, and has broke off.
My idea is to just get a new red (+) pigtail thing (whatever you wish to call it) BUT, there is is larger black wire that also runs into the positive terminal on the battery.
My plan is to just order a new one, but I have no idea what it would be called, and also, I haven't a clue on what I'm going to do with the larger black cable.
Pic 1: The wire that goes to the back of the alt. The big black one in the middle, runs to god knows where, and I have a feeling its gonna be a PITA to remove, but it looks like i have no choice.
