Need a New Radiator
I need a new radiator the plastic is cracked on the hose hook up on the drivers side of the engine. I was just wondering if there is a preferred brand as far as quality goes.
Also I wouldn't be opposed to going all aluminum if any one knows where to find one for around 200.
Thanks
Car is a 02 z28 with a T56
Don't forget if you do go LT1 that there's one port you will need to cap off.
I found the champs for 200 its a 3 row....I'm thinking about it but it seems like over kill and i have a feeling there will be some fitment issues.
Currently looking into the lt1 swap.....how would the extra port be sealed?
Any one get a replacement either lt1 or ls1 from one of these manufacturers? were they any good?
SPECTRA PREMIUM
VISTA-PRO
ACDELCO
I thought about having the ed cap replaced but for the extra few bucks i figured it would jut bet better to get a new one.
If Champion says it fits in a 98-02 F-body, take them at their word and buy it. No such thing as radiator overkill! Your engine will be happier, especially in the CA heat.
For the LT1 swap, you can use a rubber plug from a hardware store to plug the port--$3-5.

Thanks for the help everyone
Here's what you do. Buy an 8" piece of 5/8" heater hose and a clamp. Then go to Home Depot with that hose and find a threaded brass plug that will screw into one end snuggly. Then also a clamp for that end.
That's what I did when put an LT1 radiator in. This way you have a great way to flush the system when needed. It flows out like a garden hose.....instead of that factory petcock valve that takes forever to drain.
The extra port is on the back at the drivers side bottom corner. It faces straight backwards and when you use it for a drain the coolant will spill out right onto the ground.
You will run cooler than an LS1 radiator will do. And to be honest......all of those aftermarket radiators don't do anything at all to cool better. They are good for boost builds and full race builds.
......NOTE: while you are at the auto parts store picking it up.....verify that it's. 5/8" hose that fits onto the port......it's been almost 10 years since I did mine. It's either 5/8" or 3/4".

If you order an LT1 radiator from 1995 without tranny cooler you should get the one with that extra port.....
