Difficult to turn ignition key

Difficult to turn ignition key Been scratching my head a bit on this one. Though I would see if anyone here has had a similar issue. The other day when I got to work it was extremely difficult to turn my ignition key to get it out of the lock cylinder. I had to jiggle the key quite a bit, as well as force the lock cylinder counter clockwise a bit to get it to release the key. Thinking that it was the lock cylinder it self I ordered a new one. Fast forward to today, I got my steering column torn apart, tried installing the new lock cylinder, but it's just at difficult to turn... I tried turning the old lock cylinder, and it's just as easy to turn as the new one now that it's out of the column. I ordered the Dorman ignition switch kit just in case that's the issue, but I wanted to try an get some guidance here just in case the cause of my issues are something else.
