Default 2000 camaro ss tach issue

okay so I decided to take apart the air vents just to see if i can change the shift point on my autometer 5340 with the shift light pill. Right now I have a 5.6 rpm shift pill. I took it out and put it back in just out of curiosity than i started my car to see if it still worked revved it up to 5600 rpm and no shift light. I ended up taking apart the whole shift light and rewiring it cause i didnt like the way they had it wired. So after all that soldering I than went for a little drive brought it up to 5600 still no light. Do you think i could have friend the pill that tells me to shift at 5600 rpm? i took out the pill and put a wire from one end to the other. What else could it be and these pill things are sold as a kit not as one but id need to buy a kit that costs 88$ at a local performance shop of 44 online. Let me know what you think
