Mixed coolant question

I was low on coolant when I was going to a car show a month ago and my buddy had me stop by his work and he topped it off. He works at jiffy lube and said that the stuff they use can be mixed with anything. It completely slipped my mind that my car uses dex cool and from what I've heard you're not suppose to mix it with anything. I scheduled a coolant flush tommorrow despite my friend saying it would be okay(he also owns a LS car), am I overreacting or should I go ahead and have it flushed? Need some advice thanks.

Their is a such thing as all makes or global coolant ...
It kind of a clear yellowish color ....
Your supposed to be able to mix it with any long life coolant

BTW - If you have a beer and read this thread with the word "coolant" deleted, it's kind of funny. ...but, I don't know how I know that...

It will be a ok. But me being a nit pick I would flush it when you have time and refill with whatever your hearts content. I despise dexcool I run old time green antifreeze in everything and change it every 2 years and I've never had a LS engine problem since 98 using it.

But that's another argument for another time. You'll be fine put whatever you want to run in it s long as its fully flushed

I would stick with Dexcool for an LS1, rather than mixing it IMO. I've used nothing else in my '98, and the entire cooling system is still 100% assembly line original and leak/issue free after 16 years. I do change it regularly though. Proper change intervals, not allowing large amounts of air in the system for prolonged periods (such as leaks), and using clean/distilled water for the 50/50 mix is all you need to prevent any problems with Dexcool in an LS application.
