BCM dilemma
Hello out there I recently picked up a 1 owner 2000 Z/28 I have had vintage muscle cars for years but wanted something more modern. It has been a really fun car, and blown away by the mighty little LS1 inside. My questions is radio and windows cutting out--when I buy a new BCM from Rock Auto do I need to give them any info like RPO code or key code? My local dealer wants to charge $600.00 bucks for the unit and install [ouch!!] I want to get the correct one so I can plug in the parking lot and just have them program it.I have fixed it for now with the solder fix thanks to the great info on the forum--I just want a back up if it craps out again. thanks for any advice Brian

The solder fix should take care of it. In fact, if you get a new one it too might one day need the solder fix (not sure if GM ever updated the production process for these.)
Assuming there was no update to production, I would think that a repaired original might be better than an unrepaired NOS unit.
