I would flush it out, and run a good proper power steering fluid.

WHY take chances on a brand new pump??

Some say that the Red Line p.s. fluid is overkill for a street/drag only car, but it IS good stuff, and you will NEVER have to worry about boil over under ANY conditions, it is good for crazy low ambient temps (IF you have to use your ride in those conditions as I do), and it will last much longer WITHOUT shearing down like all of the 'on the shelf' at Wal Mart/Pep Boyzz/Vato Zone/etc. fluids will over time.

Besides, quart to quart, it is NOT all that much more coin than those 'popular' fluids.

Thats true, I'll flush all that out and go with ps fluid lol. Definitely dont need to take chances on a brand new pump.

Winter is their busiest time. I called last summer and it was only a 2 week turn around.

I just got my car back from the shop, they replaced my busted pump with a Reman and so far so good, even better then the original. Should I worry down the road with these negative reviews? Has a one year, 12k warranty though so we'll see how it hangs within time.

Not to Hi-Jack but from what I've seen removing the PS pump to replace isnt very indepth BESIDES the necessity of having a pulley puller to remove and reinstall the PS pulley..then a few bolts and two hoses to disconnect, but am I right? I am thinking of tackling my leaking PS Pump myself but Ive never done one before... Oh and is there a benefit to running the turnone pump / pulley on a daily driver car that will probably never see any road racing?

I would make sure you get AC Delco power steering it is clear in color i believe. Most auto stores fluid has stop leak and other crap in it you don't need. I wouldn't take a chance running the wrong type of fluid

AC Delco/GM has a synthetic blend, "winter" version which does help in those sub-10 degree mornings, but it costs even more than the Red Line, and Royal Purple FULL synthetics, even at the online discount places.
