Default Where to buy sturdy hatchback lift supports (struts/shocks?)

The lift supports that came with the car (2000 Z28) gave out after I installed an OEM SS wing. The added weight was too much for them. I went tot he junkyard, got another pair and they only lasted about a week.

Where can I buy some strong/sturdy supports lifts for my hatchback?

Thanks

Ebay or Amazon, Brand Name "Strong Arm" be sure to get the model SPECIFICALLY for the SS, the standard hatch supports can't handle the extra weight of the wing.

to give you an idea of the weight difference a wing can make (albeit would be less on the SS wing) when I swapped over to a T/A hatch on my bird (to get the high-rise wing), I made sure to get the T/A lift supports off the car the hatch came from, these are from a 93 but just barely hold the hatch up all the way after lifting it all the way by hand (like normal), when I took off the wing to plasti-dip the hatch I could hit the trunk release and the hatch would RAISE ALL THE WAY OPEN on it's own, thats how much the weight of just the high-rise wing affects the lift capacity of the shocks.

Stabilus. They were the OEM supplier, and they're made in USA. I bought a pair from Rock Auto years ago, but it looks like they no longer carry them. My Dad was able to find a pair for his Suburban from the parts store, so you can try those.

The GM parts manual uses the same exact part numbers for all 93-02 Camaros.

OK, did a little comparing part numbers on rockauto and it looks like all camaros and the base/formula firebirds used the same lift shocks but the T/A has a different part number, so maybe it was just the T/A that has better shocks, wonder if the T/A lifts would make the base hatches actually open like when I removed the wing from the T/A hatch?

I went with Strong Arm from Ebay. In less than 10 mins I installed them and what a difference! They perform much better than the OEM ones ever did, even when it had the z28/V6 spoiler.

I asked if there was a difference between the the lift supports for the Z28/WS6 to accommodate the heavier spoiler and I was told that they all used the same lift supports.

Everybody, thanks for you help
