I have heard great things about this stuff too....on the late night info-mercials. I tend to shy away from putting liquids in the engine that weren't initially intended to go there. Your dealerships service department wouldn't recommend it. Personally, I have never used anything like that (as I never felt the need), so I can't comment on how (well) then work or not. I'd just be sure to keep clean oil in the thing, and no additives. Makes it easier to narrow down culprits when something goes wrong. Just my opinion though.

A complete waste of money, IMO. My company has a GM van with 693,000 miles on it (as of the last time I checked. Probably over 700,000 miles now.) ORIGINAL untouched engine, transmission, and rearend. It's had the fluids, filters, and plugs changed. That's it. NOTHING else. No snake oils, no engine cleaners, nothing special at all...not even synthetic oils.
IMO, you simply don't need that stuff. It'll probably do more harm than good.

LS1??? MOBIL 1!!!! change filter every 2500-3000 if driven hard, the oil will last 6-7000. Don't under estimate synthetic oil and if you do run Mobil 1, don't add any additives. Let it do it's job. I have been running Mobil 1 for many years. Put it in a brand new 1978 Camaro, yore the engine down for a rebuild after 150+,000 miles, bearings had only .0015 of wear from stock size, crank was perfect, just had to be polished, Had to be bored due to Cast iron rings used back in those days, mic'd the cam, virtually perfect, of course I had to put a bigger cam in though. My father and I have run M 1 in every race car we had, never any wear, just breakage from weakening parts.

Why do the names of these products in the message title make me think I'm about to see an ad for an "adult toys" catalog...
Prolong, hehe.... ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
A few years back I used Slick 50 a few times. That was before I started hearing about the teflon possibly building up in places it wasn't supposed to. And z-max supposedly can cause accelerated wear on bearing surfaces. I did put some Restore in a '78 TA with the Cali. 403 Olds engine, and got a few more years out of it that way. Had to replace the oil pressure sensor, that was the only ill effect from using it.
I stay away from all of it now.... The synthetic oils are very good. Regular changes makes a big difference. If the filter gets partially clogged and the bypass opens, that's where the crud gets into the bearings and kills them.
