broke down
I went on a 3 week vacation and came back drove my 02 TA automatic..and it started to back fire and bog down after about 30 miles...i have just replaced the spark plugs and wires their was 3/4 of fuel in it when I left ...i assumed it might have been moisture since I live in FL so I let it idle till it was almost empty refiilled it and it still does it when I push the gas pedal their is absolutely no power backfires and starts jerking , it'll kinda go if I barely push the pedal ever so lightly....this problem was as evident 3 weeks ago I could feel like it was slightly skipping a beat but it was hard to tell between just rough road... it has just rolled over 200k everything is stock except shocks and springs
Someone have any idea pleas
Check up under the front air dam and ensure nothing is clogging the air into the condenser/radiator inlets. Cleaning the MAF is not that big a deal either. MAF's have more problems on the cars using K&N and other oiled air filters (ie over oiling them). Can't hurt to use some dry gas (like red HEET) or a can of fuel system cleaner like Techron.
I'd do a search of the forum for "power loss." (general maintenance forum, etc.). You'll run across those that had problems similar to yours. Your system might be giving off some fault codes that could help pin point the issue. Other sources could be vacuum leaks (intake, EGR, PCV line, etc.), clogged CAT, failing EGR. With 200K miles most everything is probably well aged on the car. If any of the items above are still original, that's the place to look first....especially a cracked PCV line.
