Default Help?

I've got a bone stock 98 trans am with around 93,xxx miles. Last week I took it on a long road trip (4hrs one way) for a weekend getaway. Car drives fine, and still does. However I've been working with a mechanic to get the AC up and running again, and I think my condenser is shot. It's scheduled to go back I the shop Monday.

On the way home from the trip I hear a very very loud screech from the engine bay lasting about 5-10 second, then it goes away and I've never heard it again. However now I have a very annoying sound coming from somewhere within the car. It doesn't explicitly sound like it's coming from the rear, and I'm not showing any leaking around the differential.

Also it isn't clearly heard when parked and poking around the engine bay, nor is it intensified with rpm. However it is intensified with mph. It is most prominent between 40+ mph. Could this be something to do with the looming AC fix? It's not defending, but very annoying, and making myself paranoid. I'm about to move from Ohio to Georgia in a few weeks and this will become my DD after I make that trip.

EDIT: Also, I took my 60 year old mechanic of a father for a test drive and he couldn't truly hat it, he thought he might have but can't say he did like I do. It's a sounds kinda like the noise the blower fan makes when on full blast without the sound of the rushing air. I'm going insane. The car runs and drives excellently, it's an automatic transmission and shifts great. No lag in response or hesitation between gears. I've already checked all fluids and inspected my brakes.

Yeah it does. The sound isn't connected to rpm however. If that helps. Does the ac our vent system intake air somehow?

The AC vent takes in outside air through the base of the windshield unless it's in recirculation mode.

Would this be occurring even with the fan on "off"? I feel like this might be the source of my sound. It's definitely not kids enough to be the rear end, and it sound like it may be coming from the passenger front/ dash area.

Yes. But it'll be less so. Pull the blower motor (from under the passenger dash, behind the glove box, comes out the bottom), and inspect it for debris/etc.

I'll have to do that. Thank you, I was trying to locate that the other day. I have to remove a panel to get to it, correct?

Yes, there's a panel under the glove box. You'll see the fan motor to the right side underneath that panel.

Took the blower out and cleaned out the debris. Fans sound better but the sound is still there. Like a small electric motor. I'm taking it top the shop today for a new ac condenser and such, hope that helps. If not I'm changing my diff fluids and checking the magnet for shavings next week.
