Default Puddle of fuel on top of intake below rail.

So I had my hood up about an hour ago putting in some power steering fluid and noticed that I had a small puddle of fluid on top of the intake right around the first injector on the driver's side. This was directly below the rail so the first thing I checked to see if the cap on the Schraeder valve was tight. Every now and then the car wants to stall out and I am wondering if this is related but since the car has an MS4 cam, it always sounds rough and cuts up at low RPM.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Pretty sure. I stuck my finger in it and it isn't thick and smells just like gas. At first I thought it was power steering fluid because the car leaks that and I was wondering if the pump was somehow throwing that fluid up on the intake.

Don't drive it....let alone even start it. Engine bay fires are rare...but they are wicked.

Disconnect the battery till you repair this leak. I would.....

.

You could always try having someone key on the car to let the FP run for a few seconds and cycle it a few times while the hood is up and look for the spray.

Possibly the quick connect isn't fully sealing anymore at the fuel line / fuel rail connection. Possibly a cracked injector body, bad clip or upper o ring.

I can think of stuff but in the end you probable need to see it spray. Pull the ignition fuse so your assistant can't accidentally start the car. Or unplug the coil harness.

I've not seen any write ups, but it is easy enough...

1. Depressurize the fuel rail and then remove the fuel rail and injectors as an assembly (4 bolts and the fuel disconnect, and the electrics)
2. Remove the metal clip holding the injector in place
3. Rotate the injector to free up the o-ring and then pull it out.
4. Silicone grease the o-ring on the new injector. Slide the clip onto the new injector from the side
5. Push the new injector into the rail, and the clip will snap into place.
6. grease up all the lower O-rings and reinstall the rail, connections, etc.

Typically, I'll remove the coils for more room and fewer scratches from the cowl
