driver door window clunk help, video inside
the sound is the most important.
for years my driver door window makes a clunk when going up and down.
other than the sound, the window and everything works fine.
that sound in the video is what i normally hear every time,
this past summer it has really clunked to make me worry enough to now start pulling things apart.i what causes this, and how can i fix?
i don't want to start undoing the window brackets and all that, and have a big unfixable mess.
There is a rubber stop on the bottom of the door. The window hits this, as intended, which makes some noise when you open the window all the way. You may make sure that bumper is in its proper place. Sometimes it slides out of place, which can change the noise.
The bumper is a rubber block with a key molded in to it. That key slides in to groove routed in to the bottom of the door. If you take out the door speaker and close the window all the way, you should be able to stick your noggin in there and get a good view of things. Sometimes, when the bumper comes loose, it just rolls around the inside of the door.
this past summer while driving, the noise was bad enough it sounded like whatever was doing it was hitting the glass and additionally there would be a snap noise like metal slapping against the glass.
my passenger side window doesn't make this noise, probably because it has 1/10 the use the driver window has gotten.
Do you know if your motor is bolted to the regulator? The common culprit for noise at this point of travel is loosening or long motor bolts.
