Bad oxygen sensor

Bad oxygen sensor I have a 1998 z28 and I have a code in my computer for a bad oxygen sensor. I have not replaced it because im not sure which one is bad. I was wondering if anyone knew if this hurt performance. I know it affects gas mileage but that's not something i'm to worried about. I would just try to replace as many as it took to fix it but I am on a very fixed income. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes it affects performance. If the O2 is bad, then the engine can't properly adjust combustion. Fuel comsumption will go up and performance will go down. This may also cause a rough idle and an off-idle stumble.
Whats the exact code? the front o2's are bank 1 sensor 1 or bank 2 sensor 1. Sensor 2's are post cat and will not affect performance, milage ect, they simply monitor your cats. If its a pre cat sensor, just go ahead and replace both, its not advised to just replace one side at a time.
If you have an autozone up there they will hook their hand held computer up to it for free and be able to delete it and tell you which one exactly it is , if you do not have one check with other local shops maybe they too will have the computer and do it for free

I have a bad one too! with LT's ORY and LM BBK 80mm TB K&N FIPK Ported MAF Custom Tunning by bryan (PCMFORLESS) Reprograming kit.And because of the STUPID o2 i ran 14 flat. That was last nigth,I Was so ****!!!! I really didn't knew that It will affect the performance... NOW I KNOW....lil too late..
