Possibly head gasket? I have a 01 grand marquis need help diagnosing. The check engine light is on and blinks every now and again. I drove it to my sisters about 10 minutes away and when i got there i smelled burning rubber and white smoke was coming from the engine. Oil is red...radiator is a bit foggy with a white tint...not milky white...a little transluscent but still white. White smoke comes from exhaust not thick smoke though. I think coolant is leaking from exhaust pipe...clear but has a slight faint sweet smell to the liquid dripping from the exhaust. Radiator also has brown stuff in it. Shakes excessively even more so when driving and pushing on the gas pedal. Got someone to do a test and said cylinder 6 and 7 are misfiring. Haven't driven it since the white smoke it's been sitting for a couple days.
First things first! If you have a check engine light post up the codes. That's always your first place to go with diagnosing modern electrically controlled engines. Second (not trying to turn you away) but this is a forum for LS engines and LS related topics. If you want people more experienced with your Ford tech you may want to head over to a Ford forum as they may have more experience with more specific issues. That being said it may be difficult to find someone on here that has experience with that particular issue in that car.
Anyways from what you have stated that does seem to be a common or generic symptoms of a failed head gasket but I couldn't tell for sure. You'll want to do a cylinder leakdown test or compression check on all the cylinders.

... Im sorry i dont know too much about cars. How do i find a ford forum could you point me in the right direction? I found out the smoke was from me not screwing on the radiator cap tight enough causing the cylinders to misfire. But still dont know why it does everything else. I didnt ask for the codes ...didnt know how it worked at the time until i started looking stuff up.
