I did run across a thread last night about it.
Seams to be a real pain to rebuild, but seeing how much to dealer wants to repair it($1400+),i may try to attemp to rebuild it myself.
I can buy a parts car for that rediculious price.

It takes a time to rebuild anything. Having a dealer do the work at dealer rates is probably not a wise decision. The entire column comes out in a few minutes and can be sent to a rebuilder who does columns - but the freight for that is also usually cost prohibative. Usually, folks will choose to replace their bad column with a used one if they can't do the work themselves.
BTW - The column removal is easy but delicate, mainly with regard to the air bag. It's essentially an armed bundle of solid rocked fuel, which must be deactivated and removed properly so it doesn't go off while messing with the column.
What kind of looseness do you have? Up/down in the column tilt or something else?

It an up and down movement but also goes to the left as it goes down.
I would buy a used one but i have the factory stripped column and not sure if i can find one.
I plan on looking a little more tonight just figured i would ask around and see if it was a pain to rebuild myself.

These two threads will lead you to a number of other great resources:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...rt-number.html
Lots of information on the loose pins and the crankshaftcoalition link takes you to a .pdf that shows how to rebuild an older GM column. Ours is not too much different - it just has a few more gadgets crammed into it. (For the airbag, fancier ignition cylinder, etc.)
