Default i had an extra, so why not

had an extra OPSU socket, so I thought I'd modify one, to help in reinstalling my LS6 intake, took a nice size chunk out of it, now it fits over the socket and connector, so now all I have to do is put the intake on, reach back with a magnet and pull up to get the socket off.

Guys.....I don't think he uses it to tighten the sensor. He puts it in place while he's installing his intake so the intake does not break the sensor. Its basically an OPSU Sensor Guard.

At least thats what I thought he meant.....

yes that is correct, I tighten the sensor with my unmodified socket, and use the modified one to protect the sensor from breaking when I'm installing the intake.

Ah I see, do you have a '98? I've never had to deal with that back there when I took my intake off. So it's just too ensure you don't break the sensor right?

regardless, now I know what it's for it makes sense, good use of your ingenuity.

Nice. I remember being extremely careful when I had to pull and reinstall my intake when I had to replace the knock sensors. Was lucky and didn't snap the OPSU though.

this was the first time I removed the intake, and I did not break the sensor, I remember reading when you get ready to remove it, you have to lift straight up and slowly pull towards you about 6 inches so you can remove the MAP sensor connector and the small vacuum line. Would also help if you had a helper to help with the brake booster hose, I removed the hose clamp and the brake booster check valve on the booster hose so it wouldn't get hung up on anything when I removed the intake.
