2002 power steering problem
A few months ago I noticed a leak at the side hose that goes to the cooler a while back and I bought a new hose and clamps. Power steering was making noise so I took the filler cap off and there was a ton of pressure. Thats why its blowing off the side hose. What is causing this?

How did the PS fluid look and was the level correct? These cars with factory PS coolers are notorious for failure and allowing coolant and power steering to mix. Maybe the cause of the excessive pressure you have?

Remove that horrible factory power steering cooler.....get a full length rubber hose.
Then for about $40 buy a 4 fin aftermarket cooler and run the two cooler lines to it. Done.
BUT....if in fact the factory cooler did spring a leak...you will need a full flush of all PS fluid first. Perfect time to do the aftermarket cooler. You will also need to do a complete coolant system flush.....there's gonna be PS fluid in there.
Here's mine....and it really does take only 15 minutes.

If you need a complete instruction write-up from start to finish....let me know.

The reservoir is designed to hold some pressure, approximately 7.5psi. This pressure is caused from fluid expansion when the fluid heats up. This is normal for this system, and may be misleading you to believe that it is the cause of your hose leak.
Thanks,
Jeff

Some questions an comments:
1. Read your article, its old and links dont work
2. Not sure about that placement. Finned heat exchanger likes flow
3. If the standard v8 car bypasses the cooler, is the ps pump different?
4. What about a hyden cooler in front of condenser
