There should be no reason to need an idle speed increase unless you have a modified vehicle (especially something such as an aftermarket camshaft.)
Raising the idle speed may mask your issue, or it might do nothing to improve it at all, but we can't offer much help without further info on the car and details of the problem.

Stock idle speed for all auto trans LS1 4th gens is 550rpm in gear/650rpm in park/neutral when the engine is warm. Commanded idle speed is the same whether or not the A/C is on. Your tach may not be accurate, but if true idle speed (verified via scanner) does not match those numbers and you have stock tuning, then there is an issue causing a low idle speed condition. Bumping the idle speed would not be the answer, you'd need to do some diagnostics to determine possible issues.
