Default Rack and pinion install...

Replacing the rack and pinion on my 98, had the wrong one first, got the right one now but I cannot get the driver side to slide into where it bolts up to.. The original came right out, the passenger side goes in. Is there some kind of trick to getting that in? I feel like it's less than a 1/4" too thick but I didn't want to grind on a new part..

Thanks in advance

If I remember right putting the passenger side in on mine made the drive side not go in. The second new rack I put in I put the passenger bolt in first only to find I had to pull it to get the drive side in. I can't remember why it wouldn't go and I'm not completely sure it was the drive side that had to go first. Other than that that is the side with the bushing, so make sure the tube is lined up inside bushing. If that isn't it you might check that it has the correct size tube as parts come messed up from time to time.
