Dropping the engine and A/C the last engine I dropped I just vented the Freon......this time I want to keep the system intact.....I read you can keep it intact .....anyone with experience in not breaking the line care to tell me how you did it
Since you cannot take the evaporator out with it, I think you'd have to leave the compressor behind. If you can work around this, it should be possible. Otherwise, just have an A/C shop pump down the system for you (as I did, it was free) and then vacuum and recharge after.
